One of our favorite ways to use pumpkin is in homemade pumpkin frappes.
1/2 cup pumpkin puree, fresh or canned
1 cup of your favorite chai blend *
Milk of your choice
2Tbsp Maple syrup
Ice
*If you don’t have chai handy, you can use 1tsp ginger, 1.5 tsp cinnamon, 1/4-1/2 tsp ground cloves.
Put the pumpkin, chai, and maple syrup into a blender. Add enough milk to make about 2-3 cups. If you are using spices instead of tea, use 2 cups of milk. Add a couple handfuls of ice to the blender and puree on high until everything is incorporated.
Taste and adjust the sweetness and spices accordingly. Pour into your favorite cup and enjoy!
This mix can be frozen into popscles for sore throats that feel good with cool-cold things.
For an extra treat, top with your favorite whip cream.
For extra fun try adding: a scoop of a high quality protein powder, collagen powder, a capful of vanilla, or coffee to the blend.
Note: dairy during a cold can increase mucus. Consider using an alternative milk when you are sick, or coming down with something.
